Welcome to the Patuxent River Council of
the Navy League! The Navy League was founded in 1902 with the
encouragement of President Theodore Roosevelt and our Council has
been active since Naval Air Stations Patuxent River was established
during World War II.
The Navy League of the United States is a civilian organization
dedicated to the education of our citizens, including our elected
officials, and the support of the men and women of the sea services
and their families. Any American citizen interested in
supporting the United States sea services (US Navy, Marine Corps,
Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine) is eligible for membership. Active
duty military are not eligible for membership, but their spouses and
families are eligible.
Our council prides itself on sponsoring numerous events that
support the sailors and marines – and the families - of our sea
services. Our goal is to do whatever we can to support our
young men and women in uniform - and if there was ever a time when
the armed forces, and in particular the sea services, needed support
- it's now. Our Council is known for its annual schedule of
prestigious dinner events featuring illustrious speakers from our
local Naval Air Systems Command and the National Capital
Region. We have an unsurpassed record of commitment towards
honoring young sailors, marines and Naval Junior Reserve Officer
Training Corps cadets for their outstanding service. We would
appreciate your support and participation. If you wish to join
our Council please follow the links on this web site or feel free to
contact one of the board members.
